Ending the week with Dr. Gay felt like the perfect way to wrap up a busy season of growth and reflection. The PD brought invaluable insights into inclusivity, and belonging challenging us to deepen our understanding and enrich our practices. I hope you left the sessions feeling aligned and motivated to carry this work forward. With a quieter week ahead, there’s time to reflect and integrate some of the learning from the past week, setting a steady foundation for the journey ahead. i can’t wait to see how your students count to 5. Oct. 28th – Nov. 2nd

This weekend, our school came alive with costumes, candy, and connection at the Halloween PTA party! Students, parents, and staff joined together to celebrate, get scared in the haunted house and eat lots and lots of treats. What made this event truly special wasn’t just the costumes or decorations, but the sense of community it fostered. Watching students from different grades laughing together, parents connecting, and teachers engaging outside the classroom reminded me of the power of belonging. Events like these reinforce that our school isn’t just a place for learning—it’s a place where everyone belongs. This theme of belonging...

Welcome back! We hope your fall break gave you the rest and recharge you deserved. Maybe some of you soaked up the sun on sandy beaches, while others spent time with family, reconnected with friends, or found ways to give back. Whatever you chose, we trust it was just what you needed. Now, as we head into the second quarter, let’s take a moment to celebrate the successes our students have already achieved, along with the pride and joy of their families. It’s an exciting time to dive back in and continue this journey together! As you settle back into...

Sept. 30 – Oct. 4th

This week is packed, at least on paper! We’ve got super unit planning, super unit celebrations, and visitors eager to see our super units in action. And while it already looks busy in writing, the reality is that it’s even more hectic, as the behind-the-scenes logistics needed to pull everything together never make it onto the calendar. On top of that, our students are buzzing with excitement, engaging deeply in their learning and making all of our planning come to life in such meaningful ways. With everything going on, I encourage you to carve out a moment to pause, breathe,...

September 23rd – 27th

Friday night we officially opened our back field with a ceremony and soccer matches hosted by our HS girls and boys teams. The atmosphere was electric and it was so much fun to see our community come together and cheer our dragons on. The beauty of this new space comes not only from organized events but also from how it’s used during downtime. Below, you’ll see a picture of some of our “flowers” who, let’s be honest, were being a bit mischievous with our new water table and sand. Watching them, I couldn’t help but think of prospectors digging for...

September 16th – 20th

Family Fun Day was a welcome break from the usual work routine. It was wonderful to see so many of you come out to support the school and PTA—and, of course, to have some fun together! A heartfelt thank you to all the volunteers who generously dedicated their time and effort to make this event a tremendous success. We’ve spent the past few weeks learning from consultants and various experts, and now we have an exciting opportunity to learn from the most valuable experts of all—each other. Monday’s TTT sessions are a fantastic chance to gain insights from our colleagues....

Sept. 2nd – 6th

Over the last two weeks we have had the wonderful opportunity of revisiting ways that we can support the academic and social emotional needs of our students. Last week David Bott highlighted the importance of understanding each student’s unique emotional and social needs, just like tending to each flower in our garden. Remember every interaction is an opportunity to engage with our students in a positive way. As we move into this short week, let’s apply what we’ve learned. Small changes, like starting the day with a mindful moment or being more present with each child, can make a big...
